Abstract
Animal Health Management in Cattle Farming
Animal health management in cattle farming is primarily the responsibility of the farmer, who identifies sick animals and reports them to their veterinarian. The farmer is also responsible for ensuring the traceability of the system (animal identification, maintenance of the herd register).
The most contagious diseases are subject to European regulations that mandate regular testing of animals.
The use of medications is also strictly regulated to prevent residues from contaminating animal products and to limit their presence in the environment.
This system, along with the quality of the relationship between farmers and their veterinarians, contributes to the high health status of French cattle, a true economic and commercial asset.
